The Communications Manager leads internal and external communications efforts that foster connection and engagement within the RKL team, our external audiences and the broader community.
They are responsible for developing and executing strategies including thought leadership content (social, blog posts, etc.
media relations and internal communications. The Communications Manager works closely with the Marketing Director and a talented team of marketers to amplify the RKL brand through engaging content that spans a multitude of service areas and audiences.

Responsibilities
- Lead content planning, creation, approval and distribution for blogs, guest columns, press releases, case studies, social media posts and other business communication
- Collaborate with the Marketing Director in developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy and annual communications plan, including process, resource and channel optimization
- Lead the firm’s media relations efforts, which include developing and maintaining relationships with journalists throughout the firm’s footprint, promoting RKL subject matter experts and preparing them for interviews and pitching story ideas about the firm to the appropriate outlets
- Leads internal communications efforts, collaborating with RKL stakeholders to deploy strategies that keep the team engaged and informed
- Develop content that encourages customer journey nurturing and enhances the client experience
- Partner with internal stakeholders to conceptualize posts, videos, etc. that further education and team engagement
- Partner with Creative Specialist to produce graphics for more visual explanations of complex business concepts
- Assess competitive communications approaches and provide recommendations to be incorporated in the Firm’s overarching strategy and tactical plan
- Capture and report on KPIs / ROI metrics to present to Firm senior leadership and better understand the effectiveness of communications tactics
- Adapt plans and tactics based on data-driven insights to refine and continually improve approaches
- Determine and ensure adherence to legal and brand standards for communications as needed
- Coach and supervise Communications Specialist on internal and external communications best practices
- Engage followers on RKL’s social media channels with posts, photos and videos in accordance with the firm’s social media strategy

Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related major
- 10+ years of experience in a Communications and / or PR role
- Prior team management experience required
- In-depth knowledge of digital marketing communications programs and ability to develop strategies to achieve organizational goals
- Outstanding writing and editing skills; creative thinking, brainstorming, resourcefulness and problem-solving abilities;
adaptable and open to feedback
- Excellent story-teller with demonstrated high-quality writing experience across various channels (news articles, email promotions, video storyboards, presentations, newsletters, testimonials, case studies, event materials and more)
- Strong interpersonal skills, including problem-solving skills; ability to shift focus and adapt to changes
- Proficiency in social media platforms, HubSpot or similar marketing automation platform and Microsoft Off
- Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects
Essential Functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position as needed
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and at client offices to access file cabinets, office machinery etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner and exchange information with internal and external actors as needed
- Ability to lift / carry up to 20 pounds
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours and weekends as needed
- Ability to travel to local and non-local clients as needed, overnight travel may be required
