Job Overview
The Sr. Director of Product Development manages the Product Development process including Quoting, Design, Project Management, Document Control, Sourcing and Technical Services and other aspects of development.
This is done by working closely with customers, project managers, quality and any other involved parties.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the product lifecycle execution, from design and research to development and productions, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with strategic goals;
- Provide team leadership by managing tasks, fostering collaborations across departments, and addressing stakeholder needs;
Oversee Technical Services, Research & Development, Sourcing and Product Development
- Ensure implementation of Quality by Design into product lifecycle process;
- Collaborate with customer product development and quality teams to ensure successful product launches (i.e. On-time, in specification and cost correct);
- Ensure full product setup executed to company compliance requirements;
- Oversee new materials sourcing, including documentation gather and item setup;
- Work closely with organizational partners to ensure maximum leverage of company’s vertical integration model;
- Manage Research and Development reports as defined on the organization chart;
Manage departmental KPI’s
Follow and enforce cGMP guidelines and processes as established in departmental SOP’s;
Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements and Skills
Bachelor’s degree (B.S. in Food Science or related area required.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience and / or training or requivalent combination of education and experience in product development;
- A proactive leader able to manag multiple projects and personnel;
- Has strong analytical skills with demonstrated technical competence and initiative;
- Knowledge of flavors and flavor applications;
- Knowledge of Sports Nutrition industry;
- Avility to manage multiple projects and drive deadlines;
- Works effectively with people from varying functions and levels;
- Excellent verbal, written and oral communication;
- Flexibility to travel approximately 25%;
- Knowledge of database software; order processing systems; Project Management software; spreadsheet software and word prcessing software;
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
- Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours;
- Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, labcoat and facemask;
- Work environment is normally in an office setting. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment;
- Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas;
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.;
Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
