You Are

We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable High-Speed SerDes Applications Engineer who will partner with customers to design solutions for their ASIC / SoC designs using Synopsys state-of-the-art IP.

This is a presales role and is perfect for someone who has a mix of great technical and interpersonal skills and is committed to the success of our customers.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Drive and own the technical aspect of presales process from IP introductions, evaluation to successful initial deployment in customers ASIC / SoC.
  • Prepare and carry out hardware demonstrations for tradeshows and customer visits.
  • Develop technical collateral material including application notes, white papers and other technical documents to help presales process.
  • Understand customers target sectors, analyze and prioritize customer design requirements, and provide feedback to the Marketing and Design team.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Drive and assist the sales team to secure key designs with Synopsys high-speed SerDes IP.
  • Differentiate IP offering through product evaluation, benchmarking and channel simulations.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with hands-on lab, bring-up and debug of customer boards.
  • Help to define the next generation IP products working closely Marketing and Design.
  • Provide technical training to FAE's, and key customers on IP products.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelors and / or Masters Degree in Electrical and / or Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5+ Years of experience as a High-speed SerDes design / system / applications engineer.
  • Experience with interface and connectivity protocols such as PCIe or Ethernet.
  • Working knowledge of using lab equipment including high speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers and traffic generators.
  • Ability to write scripts for automation.
  • Strong technical communication skills :
  • Ability to understand and present complex technical requirements, problems, and solutions concisely in verbal and written communications
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and generate status updates from technical data
  • Ability to organize, conduct and coordinate meetings involving multiple teams internal and external

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with high-speed PCB layout, signal integrity, assembly and manufacturing, and Signal Integrity (SI).
  • Familiarity with state-of-art SoC design implementation :
  • RTL design and verification using Verilog or SystemVerilog
  • Synthesis and static timing analysis, physical design flow, testbench creation and simulation, some familiarity with analog / mixed-signal design and verification flows, and basic understanding of package and PCB design flows and technologies
  • Prior experience in selecting, using, designing, or supporting internal or external IP
  • Prior experience in an application engineering or another direct customer facing role

The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $126,000-$190,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
