Job Description

The primary duties of the Technical Writer will be to support the Cognitive Program and Project Manager in preparing deliverables in a timely manner for Government PMs, and organize and keep record of VA deliverables in designated Cognitive and VA SharePoint spaces.

Additional duties include :

  • Establish an outstanding working rapport with primary customer and collaborate well on all deliverables
  • Support a cross-functional team for the VA, perform detailed and exacting quality assurance functions for several non-specific deliverables, supporting technical format and alignment challenges for items such as technical papers, delivered through multiple subject matter expert sources
  • Complete timely, quality reviews and revisions / technical editing of documents and plans as required that includes final inspection of products prior to use and / or delivery to verify that all deliverables conform to specified requirements and are complete and accurate, providing a consistent, high-quality product with a timely turnaround if changes are requested to produce deliverable ready documentation.
  • Provide consistent templates and reference materials for internal reports, presentations and external material, drafts and final copies for ballot or reconciliation when necessary, maintaining a continuity of style / content for authors and other project team members to facilitate a logical and consistent engineering approach to the document deliverable review process, which includes elements of version control, QA, and technical editing
  • Maintain, catalog accurate records to track project document deliverables / track document revisions and corrections by version and final,
  • Manage and maintain meeting documentation
  • Provide weekly QA tracking report, including history of all QA activity
  • Provide input to weekly reports to the PM and ensure timely completion of project team weekly and monthly status reports
  • Recommend and implement new strategies and plans for improving product quality
  • Develop and maintain a quality control plan if requested to ensure consistency in providing quality documentation, deliverables
  • Develop and provide data and quality reviews to management team upon request
  • Handle customer queries to meet or exceed expectations
  • Maintain SharePoint workspaces

Required Experience :

  • Minimum Bachelor’s and five (5) years or more of related experience
  • Experience in documenting technical content, including specifications, produce product procedure, and user guides as requested
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Skilled at organization, prioritization and multi-tasking
  • Ability to obtain a VA Position of Public Trust (PIV Card)
