The Action Environmental Group, parent company of Action Carting in New York City and Interstate Waste Services in Ohio and Northern New Jersey / Southern New York State, is one of the most progressive and innovative providers of non-hazardous waste management services, serving a diverse range of industrial and commercial customers.

We are looking to add several Diesel Mechanics to our team in the Old Bridge, NJ depot. Our Diesel Mechanics play a key role in keeping our company running.

Without skilled Mechanics who know how to diagnose and repair issues safely and quickly, providing an excellent work place for our employees and exceptional service to our customers would be next to impossible.

Responsibilities

Operates a wide variety of heavy equipment vehicles that perform the spreading and compaction of construction demolition, commercial and residential waste disposed at the post collection facilities.

• Operates heavy equipment in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures.
• Conducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintains accurate records
• Moves and positions raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipment.
• Working knowledge at all types of yellow iron i.e., wheel loader, excavator, dozer.
• Follow appropriate standard operating procedures as guideline for operating and maintaining vehicle.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements :

• Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday.
• Required to be able to climb in and out of equipment at various heights, possibly multiple times a day.
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 50 pounds occasionally.
• Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) rarely.
• Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
• Normal setting for this job is : Transfer Station or field.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be able to lift / push / pull up to 50 pounds
• Minimum 2 years' experience as operating a Top Pick / Container Lifter / Reacher-Stacker.
• Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
• Able to work in an outdoor environment on a constant basis while being exposed to variable weather conditions, temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, smells, and loud noises.
