Job Summary :
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Human Resources Compliance Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our organization adheres to all applicable labor laws, regulations, and internal policies.
As a full-scale subject matter expert, you will lead and drive cross-functional compliance initiatives across the organization.
The HR Compliance Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting audits, and providing guidance to the HR team and other departments.
You will also play a key role in fostering a culture of trust, ethical behavior, and compliance within the workplace.
Key Responsibilities :
Compliance Management :
- Develop and implement HR compliance programs to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations, updating company policies and procedures accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits of HR practices to identify potential compliance risks and ensure alignment with legal requirements.
Subject Matter Expertise :
- Serve as the organization’s expert on HR compliance, providing internal support for escalations and contributing to building the HR team’s compliance capabilities.
- Review and interpret regulatory requirements, communicating their impact on human resources processes to the relevant teams.
- Policy Development and Implementation :
- Create and maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures that are compliant, scalable, and aligned with business practices, culture, and values.
- Operationalize policy and procedural changes in response to evolving laws and regulations, ensuring the organization’s continued compliance.
Employee Relations :
- Provide guidance to HR and management on handling complex employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Investigate and resolve compliance-related employee complaints and concerns in a timely and confidential manner.
Training and Education :
- Develop and deliver training programs on compliance-related topics, such as anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and workplace safety.
- Ensure all employees understand and comply with company policies and legal requirements.
Reporting and Documentation :
- Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, audits, and investigations.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of federal government reports, including EEO-1 and report 5500s for all entities.
Collaboration and Leadership :
- Partner with the HR team to create and implement policy and process solutions that are compliant with equal opportunity, affirmative action, ADA, and other related employment laws.
- Lead project teams, supervise direct reports, and manage cross-functional compliance initiatives with the broader organization.
- Drive a shared vision with clear goals and accountability, supported by regular conversations with the Executive Team.
Risk Management :
- Proactively identify and analyze potential risk areas for the HR department, making recommendations for mitigation or remediation efforts.
- Handle vendor social audits, ensuring compliance with HR information, safety, and other regulations.
Cultural Leadership :
- Foster a culture of trust and wellbeing, where team members are motivated, heard, and aligned with clear expectations.
- Embrace diverse perspectives to foster innovation, learning from both successes and failures.
Other Duties :
Perform other duties as assigned, providing informal assistance such as technical guidance and training to coworkers.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR compliance, employment law, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
