Job Overview
A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Law Partner with a strong background in Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) litigation. The ideal candidate will bring over 8 years of experience in employment law, including PAGA / class actions, with a proven track record of managing complex litigation and offering strategic client counsel. This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow within the firm while providing high-level legal support to clients across a variety of sectors.
Duties
- Oversee and manage PAGA claims, including class action-style lawsuits, ensuring comprehensive legal filings and representation in settlement negotiations or trials.
- Develop and execute legal strategies focused on PAGA claims, balancing risk assessment, settlement potential, and litigation costs.
- Lead the discovery process, including gathering evidence, taking depositions, and preparing for hearings or trials.
- Advise clients on California labor law compliance, conduct audits, and provide strategies to minimize PAGA risk.
- Assist clients in implementing policies related to wage / hour issues, employee classification, and meal / rest break compliance.
- Evaluate and advise clients on new regulations, case law, and legal changes affecting PAGA claims.
- Cultivate and maintain client relationships while identifying business development opportunities within the PAGA space.
- Deliver presentations, training, or workshops on PAGA compliance and litigation for clients and potential clients.
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work and guidance on PAGA-related matters.
- Review and approve motions, pleadings, and discovery responses to ensure compliance and quality.
- Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging professional growth and ensuring team members are well-versed in PAGA developments.
Requirements
Over 8+ years of experience in employment law, with a focus on PAGA litigation.Expertise in class actions, preferably with experience in public entity defense.Strong research, analytical, and negotiation skills.Excellent written and oral communication abilities.Proven experience in case management and client relations.Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Bachelor's degree required.Certifications
Must be a member of the State Bar of California in good standing.Skills
