STATUS : PT / 25hrs / week M-F

QUALIFICATIONS :
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency
- Must be a service-minded team player
- Able to show initiative and work with minimal supervision
- Previous experience in the non-profit sector with an emphasis on social services is preferred
- Knowledge of local community resources for low-income individuals is preferred
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal :
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and able to maintain professional boundaries
- Able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
- Able to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with officers, volunteers and community partners
- Able to assess and appropriately respond to crisis situations
- Able to verbally communicate well in person and by phone
- Able to compose professional written correspondence, such as in emails, letters, and other documents
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required
- Computer literate with experience in MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and willing to learn other programs and online systems
- Must have accurate typing skills for data entry
- General knowledge of office administrative procedures and how to operate office equipment
- Detail oriented, excellent organization and file management skills
- Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must be able to pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety and Protect The Mission e-learning
- Employment contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Coordinate the operations of local Salvation Army social service programs, including but not limited to :
- Food pantry operations : collecting, transporting, organizing, storing and distributing food and other goods
- Utility, short-term lodging, and transportation assistance appointments
- Referrals to community resources
- Assist in seasonal activities and special community outreach events such as Summer Food Service Program, summer camp applications, Back to School, Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance.
- Provide front-line interaction with the community in person, by phone, and by email
- Coordinate coverage of reception area and responding to phone calls and messages
- Provide case management and needed services to individuals and families in compliance with Salvation Army program policies and procedures
- As needed, guide clients through the intake process, conduct interviews, assess immediate short- and long-term needs, provide appropriate resources and referrals
- Identify potential families for the Pathway of Hope program
- Complete and file appropriate forms for client assistance. Update online systems Wellsky and Charity Tracker with relevant data.
- Keep accurate records and assist with reports and monthly statistics
- Promote volunteer opportunities, recruit volunteers, coordinate volunteer involvement in social services programs
- Assist officers with documentation to maintain corps compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures such as : Protect The Mission, volunteer management, approved drivers
- Represent The Salvation Army when interacting with social service agencies, committees, and other groups as directed.
- Help develop informational materials outlining our programs and services
- When assigned, attend meetings and outreach events in the community
- Learn about the 100% Community model and promote The Salvation Army’s involvement in it
- Attend all relevant training seminars and meetings as directed.
- Other duties as assigned by Corps Officers as it relates to this position.
