Job Overview : The Graduate Assistant for the Women’s Ice Hockey program works under the direction of the head coach and assists with the administration of a successful Division III athletic program.
Responsibilities include coaching, recruiting, instructing, advising, counseling, and other administrative duties as assigned by the head coach or Athletic Director.
Graduate Assistant Positions are limited to applicants seeking degrees in the following programs :
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership (MSMOL)
- Master of Science in Criminal Justice
Essential Functions :
- Work under the direction of the head coach for the women’s ice hockey program.
- Assist with the administration of a successful Division III athletic program, including but not limited to : coaching, recruiting, instructing, advising, film breakdown, counseling, and other duties.
- Serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes and represent Albertus Magnus College in a professional, responsible, and positive manner.
- Follow all NCAA, NEHC, and Athletics Department guidelines.
- Foster a culture of compliance with NCAA rules and regulations and assist with the promotion of an environment of institutional control over intercollegiate athletics by Albertus Magnus College.
- All other duties are assigned by the head coach, director of athletics, and / or athletic administrative staff. Duties included but were not limited to assisting with the department’s Study Hall program, driving campus vans for road contests, and providing support with home event management.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience at the collegiate, club, and / or scholastic levels as a student-athlete and / or coach.
- Knowledge of collegiate rules and demonstrated compliance with said rules.
- Relevant work experience may be substituted to meet the qualifications for the position.
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Acceptance to the Albertus Magnus College full-time graduate program of one of the following programs : Master of Business Administration (MBA) Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership (MSMOL) Master of Science in Criminal Justice
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience as a student-athlete or coach of the sport(s).
- General understanding of the recruiting process at the college level.
- A demonstrated commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy regarding the student-athlete experience.
Work Schedule Requirements :
- Special Work Schedule Requirements : This position includes weekend and evening hours.
- Graduate Assistant Coaches are expected to fulfill a commitment to the Athletic Department in line with the department's commitment to educational benefits outlined in the Graduate Assistant Contract and handbook.
- A Graduate Assistant Coach is expected to meet the expectations regarding time and performance as established by the Head Coach and the department.
