Position Overview
This position requires leadership, development, and management of the RGA US corporate credit analyst staff, including establishing credit process and priorities and developing risk monitors through analysis of market and economic data.
The role requires broad and comprehensive knowledge in the areas of credit research, economics, market analysis, ESG integration and relative value assessment skills.
A successful candidate will be able to identify shifts and trends in credit risk, between rating agencies and sectors, by aggregating macro and sector fundamental and quantitative statistics to formulate actionable decisions on the portfolio in an effective and timely manner.
The position may be responsible for sector coverage as well, in which one must demonstrate sophisticated depth of subject matter expertise in fundamental credit analysis of assigned industries and credits along with breadth of knowledge of capital markets, economic analysis, and relative value.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate thought leadership, an entrepreneurial mindset, and drive execution in areas to improve corporate credit portfolio construction, ESG integration, portfolio monitoring and processes utilizing industry best practices and / or innovative solutions.
- Responsible for leadership and execution in the design and advocacy of a credit culture within the credit research department, the investment department, and the company.
- Assist with portfolio construction, management, and assessment of relative industry and issuer weightings in portfolios incorporating ESG factors return objectives and risk tolerances.
- Serves as primary contact for the US public markets credit research team to the broader RGA Investment team and other audiences as needed.
- Respond to ad hoc inquiries and requests for credit views, current investment strategy, positioning, and market views.
- Develop productive relationships with company management, sell side analysts, rating agency analysts and other avenues of information.
Maintain current knowledge of investment practices, trends, and applications.
- Mentors, guides, and manages the team member activities and development.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field plus 15+ years credit experience
- 5+ years of leadership or cross-functional collaboration experience
- CFA Designation
Preferred :
- MBA or other relevant post graduate degrees or designations
- Reinsurance or insurance industry knowledge

- Skilled as both a generalist across sectors and the broader economy while having the ability to have deep expertise into specific areas
- Highly advanced knowledge of accounting and quantitative analysis.
- Highly advanced knowledge and understanding of asset / liability management in an insurance context
- Expert understanding of fixed income corporate markets with general knowledge of, ABS, MBS, CMBS, high yield, emerging markets, commercial loans, private placements, and alternative investments
- Highly advanced skills in portfolio analysis and fixed income analytics (i.e., sector weightings, portfolio duration, performance attribution, convexity, and term structure of interest rates)
- Exceptional ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
- Exceptional skills in managing multiple tasks and projects, including the ability to handle changing priorities
