Position Summary

This position is for a nine-month academic year, non-tenure earning appointment as CrossingPoints Certificate in Occupational Studies (CCOS) Program Faculty in the CrossingPoints Program in the College of Education.

Detailed Position Information

This position is for a nine-month academic year, non-tenure earning appointment as CrossingPoints Certificate in Occupational Studies (CCOS) Program Faculty in the CrossingPoints Program in the College of Education.

Renewal of this appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, program needs, and availability of funding.

The CCOS program faculty will :

Teach specialized CCOS courses as assigned

Advise CCOS students in scheduling inclusive and specialized courses

Supervise UA undergraduate CCOS mentors, volunteers and, and practicum students assigned to the Academics domain

Ensure that CCOS students, staff, volunteers, and other program participants adhere to program protocols and regulations within the Academics domain

Implement CCOS students' individualized plans for inclusive and specialized academic participation

Assess and implement skills for fostering self-determination of CCOS students

Utilize person-centered planning to prioritize and support needs

monitor CCOS students' progress in the Academics domain

Monitor and track CCOS students' progress by utilizing and reviewing a variety of data sources to ensure that CCOS students' are on track and making adequate progress towards meeting program and individualized requirements in areas of inclusive academics, employment, independent living, community participation, and leisure / recreation for program completion

Ensure CCOS student schedules / planned activities are documented in program calendar platform

Plan and coordinate Summer Bama Bound Orientation for admitted CCOS students

Provide periodic written reports to Program Director on overall and individualized CCOS student progress and issues pertaining to student access and participation in inclusive courses

Work with faculty in departments and colleges across the university to develop establish inclusive academic opportunities for CCOS students

Organize and lead the semesterly CrossingPoints team course selection for each CCOS students and ensure timely registration of CCOS students in selected courses

Meet with each CCOS student and inclusive course instructor to develop a learning contract for each student at a minimum a week before Drop / Add period

Facilitate the registration of each new CCOS student with the Office of Student Disability Services

Work with inclusive course instructors to ensure midterm and final CCOS grades are submitted per the Learning contracts and documented in the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) monitoring document.

Plan and oversee the development of CCOS students' Person-Centered Plans and keep accurate documents of the PCPs and the ensure follow-through with Action Plans

Lead in the development of the Program of Study and Semester Reports for all CCOS students

Maintain an active research / publication record

Seek and submit grants related to the CrossingPoints program

Work collaboratively with other CCOS colleagues to ensure all essential program activities are coordinated and in synch with each domain

Oversee all CCOS study halls and supervise and support mentors assigned to study hall

Recruit volunteer mentors and practicum students to serve as domain mentors

Collaborate with CMT and other relevant key personnel in developing a plan for publicizing CrossingPoints activities and social media engagement

Monitor, analyze, and report content engagement on all CrossingPoints media platforms

Collaborate with relevant College of Education and Strategic Communication personnel to ensure adherence to relevant University policies

Ensure appropriate data collection, analysis, and periodic reporting to Program Director on all aspects of the role responsibilities

Prepare all necessary information for Program Director or designee to communicate with students and families on overall inclusive student campus involvement

Assume other reasonable job-related and service duties as assigned by Program Director

Minimum Qualifications

Earned doctorate or ABD in Special Education or Higher Education

Minimum 3 years' experience in an inclusive postsecondary program with for students with intellectual disabilities

Minimum 3 years' experience teaching in higher education

Ability to teach specialized courses for students with intellectual disabilities

Ability to collaborate with critical stakeholders in planning and implementing transition related instruction for students with intellectual disabilities

Commitment to excellence

Ability to develop and create media content, for press releases, social media messages, and visual content that inform the public about the CrossingPoints Program

Preferred Qualifications

Successful teaching experience in higher education or in an IPSE program Potential to pursue external funding Ability to pursue research on intellectual disabilities in postsecondary transition
