Job Description Summary
The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) Medical Library is currently seeking a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty librarian at the Assistant or Associate rank within the Department of Foundational Medical Studies.
The successful candidate will be an innovative, collaborative and service-oriented librarian expected to work with medical students and an interdisciplinary team of medical educators, clinical faculty, and researchers within the Department of Foundational Medical Studies at OUWB.
Core Job Responsibilities : o Serves as a liaison to assigned courses and disciplines in the medical curriculum by developing, providing, and evaluating in-person and online educational sessions or programs for both students and facultyo Lead initiatives to develop and promote a digital repository of archival and scholarly materials within the medical schoolo Provide vision, leadership and expertise in the organization, improvement, and evaluation of the Medical Library’s website content and resource guides via LibGuides.
o Collaborate with and support faculty and students in incorporating library resources into instruction, lifelong learning, and research efforts.
o Provide expert searches, in depth library reference, and research consultationo Provide expert advice and support for students, faculty and staff in using citation management tools, evidence synthesis tools, and other library technologies
Preference will be given to candidates who have : o At least one year of working experience or with comparable experience working in an academic medical or health sciences libraryo Knowledge of adult learning theory, current health sciences library and technology trends, emerging resources, and best practices of health sciences librarianshipo Skills in using Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Form, Sheets, and Slides)o Demonstrated project management experience, from planning to implementation and evaluationo Evidence of innovation and creativity in promoting library services, resources utilization, and educational programs, among medical students, faculty, and staff within an academic environmento Degree / coursework in health sciences, education or instructional design, informatics, or other.

o Ability to demonstrate the potential to satisfy the requirements for promotion and tenure as enumerated in Section 5, Criteria for Appointment and Promotion, from the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine Faculty Handbook.
Oakland University criteria for promotion and tenure include the following elements : o Research : develop a focused portfolio of high quality and peer-reviewed scholarly outcomes and creative activities.
o Service : engage in service activities to the Department of Foundational Medical Studies, University Libraries, School of Medicine, Oakland University, the wider community, and relevant library professional organizations.
o Professional Development : maintain and improve professional competence (as defined by the Medical Library Association) through continuing education and relevant professional development opportunities.
