Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Receipt Inspector to work in our Procurement Quality department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.
You will perform and report receiving inspection results of supplier-furnished material and equipment at WestOne (Primary) and MFC (Secondary) following approved inspection planning documentation and applicable procedures.
You will report to the Procurement Quality manager.
Responsibilities Include :
Determine acceptability of supplier furnished material and equipment by properly interpreting design or manufacturing drawings;
specifications; procurement documents; Asset Suite Catalog IDs; salient features lists; and industrial codes and standards.
Review and determine acceptance for INL varying forms of data analysis, material certifications, and vendor supplied test data;
determine compliance to company and customer specifications; determine compliance to Nationally recognized standards such as ASME, ASTM.
IEEE, DOT 49 CFR (hazardous material packaging); and determine acceptability of test results for non-routine acceptance testing onsite and in suppliers facilities for final determination of compliance to design requirements.
- Prepare reports and communicate details of any potential discrepancies or non-conformances with inspected materials, equipment, or systems to minimize potential impact and costs.
- Independently respond to internal / external customer service inquiries for material status; nonconformance resolution and alternative corrective actions.
- Resolve or provide recommendations for resolution of material discrepancies as identified.
- Assure adequate and effective material status control.
- Conduct record reviews; participate in resolution of inspection or related issues; and maintain required logs and electronic tracking systems.
- Communicate with peers, customers, management, and suppliers.
- Help develop new or revised procedures to reflect changes in QA programs; code and standard revisions; manufacturing practices; and lessons learned.
- Provide feedback to the procurement quality engineers and requesters on various procedures / business systems that relate to quality assurance requirements for procurement activities.
- Maintain control and continuous tracking of Measurement &Test Equipment (M&TE) inventory. Assure that all M&TE is identified, correctly labeled, appropriately statused, and controlled.
Promote continuous improvement to reduce cost of calibration through appropriate analysis of actual M&TE usage.
- Ensure M&TE are within calibration and suitability for use of the measurement equipment being used.
- Perform work to instructions provided in inspection planning packages and as directed by management.
- Provide support in various administrative responsibilities such as non-conformance reporting, tracking, trending, assessments, and records management.
- Review materials and equipment received or fabricated against purchase / design specifications to ensure acceptability.
- Communicate issues found to the quality engineering team and customers.
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to quality engineering staff on the correct application of inspection discipline and technique.
- Independence in completing assigned tasks, including Accept / Reject authority regarding inspected material or equipment.
- Maintain specialized personnel certifications, qualifications, and skills, to support source surveillance and receiving inspection assignments.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
- Level 2 : High School or equivalent plus 2 years related receiving inspection experience.
- Level 3 : High School or equivalent plus 4 years related receiving inspection experience.
- Must help work with and interpreting results of metrology (M&TE) used during the receipt inspecting process such as dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, and other tools.
- Competency in tracking databases such as NCR (non-conformance reports), identifying suspect / counterfeit materials and following inspection plans.
- Can Certify as an Basic Inspector within 30 days of employment.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

- The pay range for this position is : Level 2 (min. $21.90 - max. $36.13) / Level 3 (min. $25.18 - max. $41.54). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
