Overview

AmTrust Financial Services seeks a Claims Manager for our Property Claims department. This position values previous supervisory experience, mentorship, and / or property training experience.

The Property Claims Manager leads a team of 5-7 claim professionals and / or trainees in the handling of first-party commercial property claims.

Critical skills and responsibilities include the technical development of the claim professionals and the ability to drive improved claim quality and outcomes.

Expert knowledge of coverage, causation, investigation, evaluation of damages, and ultimate resolution is a pre-requisite.

These claims arise in various jurisdictions throughout the country and, as such, experience and licensing in multiple jurisdictions is required.

This position will also have personnel administration responsibilities and may be involved in cross-functional claims projects.

Additionally, the adjusting team will handle claims both in the field and from the desk.

Responsibilities

Provides timely and effective coaching and development.

  • Oversees the handling of all aspects of property claims including reserving, communication, documentation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution.
  • Ensures new claims are assigned to unit members based on complexity and skill level of staff.
  • Ensures all property claims conform to quality, production standards, and specifications.
  • Ensures claim processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures, and department guidelines.
  • Provides file authority as appropriate to team members.
  • Analyzes and approves insurance claim payments.
  • Supervises maintenance of all claim records.
  • Assists in any response to consumer complaints.
  • Prepares regular periodic reports and monitors system reports to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Completes special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Establishes and executes controls to assure that the quality of the work meets or exceeds standards.
  • Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures, and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • May recruit, hire, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
  • Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and salary administration.
  • Manages the development and training of subordinates, including monitoring and relaying information to the staff regarding changes in coverage and laws.

Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of laws, principles of property coverage, liability, and insurance industry in general.
  • Analytical and human relations skills are critical.
  • Leadership skills; ability to plan, organize, delegate, and develop staff.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to obtain and deliver information to others orally and in written form.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and direction.
  • Ability to operate business technology.

Education / Experience :

  • College degree or equivalent experience and skills required.
  • Valid adjuster's license in appropriate jurisdictions or ability to obtain such.
  • Experience with First-party Commercial Property Claims.
  • Experience with Commercial Construction estimating.
