Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Records Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

This role is crucial in ensuring that patient information is accurate, secure, and accessible when needed. The Records Specialist will work closely with medical staff and utilize various systems to streamline record-keeping processes.

Responsibilities

Assist with all internal and external records requests.

  • Assist Director of Administrative Services with outside and facility created records into resident charts.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA / HITECH regulations.
  • Coordinate logistics for new hire onboarding sessions and employee training sessions.
  • Manage the organization's employee database and prepare reports.
  • Maintains good communication with MCO representatives and provides records in a timely manner.
  • Performs audits on resident records to ensure accuracy in concert with the Director of Administrative Services.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest HIPAA / HITECH requirements and best practices.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and LICENSURE :

  • Associate degree in health information management - 3-5 years' direct experience may be substituted
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Solid understanding of MS Office
  • Experience with release of information (ROI) documentation and requirements.
  • Meets health requirements, i.e. - flu vaccination, COVID vaccination, COVID Booster, tb testing - per licensing requirements.
  • Must demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
