Primary Purpose :
Effectively and continuously promote the district, share good news about student, staff and district achievements, and provide timely and effective information to educate and empower families, staff and the community.
Enhance the reputation of the school district with all stakeholders and the media. Manage the brand and reputation of A+ Charter Schools, Inc.
and the mission of the organization. Act as an effective liaison between the public, school districts, and corporation.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field
Experience :
Five (5) years communications experience
Experience managing direct reports
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in writing, proofreading, editing and photography
Proficiency in working with news media
Knowledge of Associated Press Style
Knowledge of the Texas Public Information and student privacy laws
Ability to meet established deadlines while managing multiple projects
Ability to make clear decisions in times of crisis
Ability to use computer programs to design and produce district publications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
Major Responsibilities and Duties :
- Serve as district spokesperson when instructed by the Superintendent.
- Assist with emergency management procedures and crisis communication.
