About the Position : The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician will perform a variety of activities related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of assigned HVAC systems and equipment.
The HVAC Technician will also assist in coordinating preventative maintenance and routine services with other City departments as well as outside contractors and vendors.
Candidates should be highly self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team. All tools are provided by the City of Grand Junction.

Duties
What You'll Do :
- Operates, maintains, repairs, or replaces chillers, heat pumps, coolers, refrigeration units, variable air volume systems, air handling units, exhaust systems, condensers, evaporators, boilers, water heating units, and cooling towers.
- Operates, maintains, repairs, or replaces heating coils, strip heaters, thermostats, direct digital control systems, variable frequency control drive units, and electrical control circuits.
- Provide maintenance of HVAC and associated systems by performing routine filter and belt replacements, cleaning air distribution systems and associated components, corrosion prevention, water treatment, and other preventive measures.
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment, components, control systems, and power systems, utilize diagnostic and testing equipment, and interpret results.
- When necessary, manage the installation of new HVAC equipment, ensuring proper integration with existing systems.
- Meticulously document all service calls, repairs and preventive maintenance activities to maintain comprehensive service records.

Qualifications
This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drugscreens due to the nature of the work performed. What We're Looking For :
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible HVAC and mechanical experience including maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of standard HVAC and associated systems and equipment.
- Possession of a valid Universal Refrigerant License.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
