SUMMARY

The Senior Digital Media Specialist is a staff position that provides opportunities to use initiative and mature judgment in a variety of tasks designed to support and advance the Advocacy Program and the law school.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Create document templates in Microsoft Word

Conduct training for students in document formatting in Microsoft Word

Provide technical assistance for students with document formatting in Microsoft Word

Create various forms of social media content text captions, videos, and images suitable for various social media platforms

Publish posts according to the established social media content calendar

Collaborate with the Advocacy team to ensure that every piece of content is relevant, helps maximize engagement and reach, and aligns with goals

Create video content for training and orientation purposes

Design and create illustrations and other graphics

Design, implement, and maintain a communication platform for coaches, judges, and teams

Design, implement, and maintain the Advocacy Program’s databases to ensure data accuracy, availability, and security

Participate in strategic planning and implementation of programs designed to further the Advocacy Program’s mission.

Work with the Vice President, Advocacy and the Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement to engage alumni of the Advocacy Program.

Work with the Vice President, Advocacy and the Marketing Department to market the Advocacy Program.

Coordinate efforts with the Vice President, Advocacy on a regular basis.

Comply with all aspects of the Law Schools Customer Service Standards.

Generally, help to advance the mission of the law school and the Advocacy Program.

Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word.

Deep knowledge of social media trends and engagement strategy.

Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, or other content creation software.

Experience with Final Cut Pro, Premier Pro, Audacity, or other media editing software.

Ability to turn a concept into compelling content.

A keen eye for aesthetics and details.

Creative mind and storytelling skills.

Strong project management skills.

In addition, must be professional and confidential of all department data and correspondence. The person must have a poised and professional image;

a strong ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively and efficiently with all employees, visitors and students while projecting a positive image for the area and law school.

Service-oriented with ability to make all visitors feel welcome. Must be detail-oriented. Must have the ability to work independently.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

Degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or relevant field preferred. At least five years of experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Proficient in both spoken and written English. Ability to interpret and explain complex data. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to students, alumni, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform basic to intermediate math essentials. Must possess the ability to analyze numerical data and detect patterns, errors, and trends.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to solve routine problems and / or deal with a variety of variables in situations, especially when the department head may be out of the office or unavailable.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.

Occasional light to moderate lifting from floor level, at waist, and above shoulders is required. Infrequent bending and stooping are necessary.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to accurately input data and proofread; distance vision to recognize and assist visitors to the department.

Extremely fast-paced, multi-tasking, non-smoking work environment. Must be able to work the general business schedule of the law school (9 : 00 a.

m. to 5 : 30 p.m.) plus evenings and weekends as needed.

The Advocacy Program at South Texas College of Law Houston operates to create, foster, and assist advocacy training. While South Texas has a long-standing reputation for excellence in national moot court and mock-trial competitions, the Advocacy Program has grown and matured to reflect the evolving nature of the provision of skills training in legal education.

The Advocacy Program seeks to engage students in a variety of opportunities to help them find their own voices as advocates.
