Description
The merchandising coordinator facilitates stock availability and designs creative merchandise displays. In this role, they will be monitoring stock levels in the store, retrieving merchandise from the storage area as needed, and setting up eye-catching product displays.
To ensure success, merchandise coordinators should exhibit sound knowledge of consumer behavior and demonstrable experience in a similar role.
An outstanding merchandise coordinator will be someone whose understanding of merchandising strategies translates into increased sales.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Coordinates with buyers and merchandisers to plan and manage merchandise
Monitors inventory levels and sales, and replenishes stock as needed
Ensures that merchandise is displayed attractively and accessibility is maximized
Manages and coordinates the placement of new products and the removal of old ones
Oversees the execution of promotional events or sales
Maintains store standards by ensuring product displays are clean, safe, and well-maintained
Participates in regular inventories to ensure accuracy
Communicates with vendors and suppliers for merchandise procurement
Trains and guides staff in product knowledge to improve sales
Processes vendor invoices and maintain financial records
Analyzes sales reports and market trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes, and impact of competitors’ operations on sales
Supervises purchasing activities, as well as product returns and exchanges.
Liaises with suppliers on product pricing, promotions, special orders, buy-backs, and damages.
Reports to senior managers and answers customer queries.
Maintains confidential files and records for assigned areas of responsibility.
Attends all departmental required meetings and training, as assigned
Performs any other related duties as may be required.
