Job Title : Financial Aid Advisor
Location : Maumee, OH
Sole Hire has been exclusively selected to spearhead the search for a skilled Financial Aid Advisor for our client in the for-profit higher education sector.
This is a full-time direct hire role.
We are looking for a candidate situated within a commutable distance to our Maumee, OH campus, available to work on-site from Monday through Friday, for 40-45 hours per week.
Position Description :
The Student Financial Aid Advisor is dedicated to providing student-focused support, advising students and families throughout the financial aid process.
This role requires a thorough understanding of financial aid policies and procedures, with the ability to communicate these to students clearly, prospective students, and their families or support systems.
The Student Financial Aid Advisor reports to the Financial Aid Director.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain a current working knowledge of the student enrollment and financial aid process.
- Provide advising throughout the financial aid process to prospective, new, and current students and their families or support systems.
Must have a thorough knowledge of available types of financial aid, GAP options, VA, third-party programs, and general student eligibility criteria.
- Counsel and advise students and parents on financial aid eligibility, guidelines, and available programs, including tuition, loans, verification, payment plans, and third-party scholarship funding.
- Conduct analysis on students who have been selected for verification on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid to determine and request additional information or submit corrections as applicable.
- Complete assigned duties with a high degree of accuracy to ensure compliance while experiencing multiple interruptions.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply federal and state regulations and school policies as they relate to student finance, ensuring compliance and deadlines are met.
- Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Financial Aid Director.

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications :
- Customer service-focused and strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working in higher education is preferred.
Education and Work Experience :
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in business, finance, or related area.
- 2-3 years of progressive working experience in student finance is preferred.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
