Overview Provide risk analytics and expert support at the highest level of operational complexity to business units. Create methods to evaluate potential losses, and develop high-impact solutions to minimize or eliminate risk.

Recommend and monitor enhancements to current processes and procedures, performing analysis and reporting in support of strategic objectives.

Perform independent model validations and reviews. Assess changes to the model, confirm significant changes have been validated, evaluate changes in external environment and its impact on the model, review ongoing monitoring results, make recommendations for improvements, prioritize future validation activities, thoroughly document all work and produce a formal report on the results.

Promote model-risk-management-awareness, which may include presentations at staff meetings throughout the corporation or producing educational material.

Drive discussions and capture next steps with model owners and developers for aggregation of risk articulation on model findings, remediation, action plans, and dates.

Assist with other model risk- management activities, for example model inventory maintenance; dashboard reporting; external validator oversight;

findings tracking; and policy and standard maintenance. Examine data extraction, cleaning, transformation processes, and evaluate data-related assumptions and limitations.

Scrutinize the model design and construction, verifying the suitability of the modeling framework and theory for the intended use.

Review model segmentation, variable selection, model testing procedures, and evaluation model assumptions, limitations, and risks.

Review model code to ensure correctness, accuracy, and absence of material errors. Assess both in-sample and out-of-sample back test results.

Evaluate sensitivity and scenario testing, benchmarking analyses and quantitative and business performance metrics. Recommend appropriate mitigation measures and enhancements to improve model quality and compliance with regulatory standards.

Ensure that validation documentation adheres to internal standards. Assist model validation manager in gathering and providing materials requested by internal audit and regulators, drafting responses to questions, and defending validations in exams.

May work remotely pursuant to First Citizens’ Remote Work Guidelines policy. Qualifications Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Mathematics, or other related field plus four (4) years of experience in the job offered or four (4) years of experience as a Financial Analyst, Programmer Analyst or a related occupation.

Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Financial Mathematics, or other related field plus one (1) year of experience in the job offered or one (1) year of experience as a Financial Analyst, Programmer Analyst or a related occupation.

Requires experience in risk management, financial analysis, or statistical modeling. Requires proficiency in statistical methods (for example, linear regression, logistic regression, survival analysis, or ARIMAX).

Requires knowledge of machine learning algorithm (Supervised and non-supervised Machine Learning). Requires proficiency with programming languages (for example, Python, R, SAS, MATLAB, C++, SQL, or VBA).

Requires understanding of regulatory requirements (CECL, DFAST, etc.). Experience and skills may be gained prior to or concurrent to attainment of graduate degree.

May work remotely pursuant to First Citizens’ Remote Work Guidelines policy. This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

The base pay for this position is generally between $103,314 to $163,682. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law.

For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and / or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
