JOB BRIEF
The Barista Clerk prepares all coffee and juice bar beverages according to recipes and customer requests. Coffee Bar Clerk maintains department cleanliness and offers courteous, friendly and efficient customer service as needed.
JOB DUTIES
- Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, expresso drinks, blended coffees or teas.
- Serve prepared foods such as muffins, biscotti, or bagels.
- Cut and slice fresh fruits and vegetables as needed for product preparation.
- Bottle fresh juices produced using juice machine.
- Setup or restock product displays on sales floor shelves, counters, or cases.
- Stock customer service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items. Keep department supplies filled and maintained.
- Help cross merchandise product from other departments.
- Check and maintain inventory, rotate merchandise to maintain freshness.
- Orally communicate with customers and co-workers on products and prices; describe menu items or suggest products that may appeal to them.
Offer product samples.
- Answer telephone to communicate with internal and external customers
- Wrap, label, or date food items for sale.
- Clean and maintain work area, utensils or equipment. Stock customer service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items.
- Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Observe safety standards. Being safety conscious and correcting any unsafe conditions that are observed.
Secondary Job Duties :
- Restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
- Clean utensils, work tables, wipe counter tops, and front of display cases.
- Ensure all product labels, signs, and prices are aligned with product.
- Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark downs or property defacement.
- Clean walls, fans, and drains in coolers, display cases and work area.
- Present favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene and business attitude.
- Other duties assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous customer service skills, as well as a basic knowledge of varying beverage products.
- Able to communicate effectively with others and convey enthusiasm.
- Read and comprehend written instructions and training information

Physical Demands :
- Occasionally-Carrying up to 50 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 100 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 6 foot height, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Frequently- walking on tile / concrete, bending, balancing, and reaching waist / overhead level.
- Continuously- Standing on tile / concrete, manual dexterity, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and smelling.
Safety Risk Factors :
- Occasionally-Loud noise, slippery or cluttered floor surface, hazardous equipment (mechanical moving parts), contact with sharp objects, contact with skin irritant, toxic exposure (see Material Safety Data Sheets), nuisance dust, fumes, sprays, and hazardous cleaning solutions.
- Frequently-Twisting of back and neck.
Other :
- Varied, irregular schedules.
- Working environment involves inside and exposure to cold conditions.
