As part of the Optum Advisory - Trend Analytics Consulting team, you’ll become part of a leading force in healthcare analytics.

Primary Responsibilities :

The consultant in this role will engage with detailed healthcare claims data to build and maintain models that measure and project claims cost trends for Level-Funded and Student Resource health plans.

They will address business challenges through analytical modeling and apply their technical skills to complex analyses, drawing key insights regarding claims costs trends and patterns.

Additionally, the consultant will create visually appealing, client-ready, and accurate deliverables, ultimately contributing to improved health care outcomes and organizational goals.

  • Designing and executing detailed data programs and models leveraging technical skills in R, Python, Excel, SAS, and SQL.
  • Solve problems through issue identification, research and data gathering; Accurate and insightful analysis; Relevant and actionable recommendations.
  • Developing high-quality written communications, persuasive presentations, and compelling deliverables tailored to client needs.
  • Identifying and exploring new areas for analytical development in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborating across departments to ensure holistic solutions to business problems.

Required Qualifications :

  • Candidate is on the Actuarial exam track, having passed two or more actuarial exams.
  • 2+ years of actuarial experience working in a corporate environment including experience collecting, analyzing, and summarizing qualitative / quantitative data.
  • 2+ years of experience acquiring, manipulating, and working with large datasets and using them to solve business problems.
  • Experience in designing and executing complex data programs, including data extraction and analysis using R, Python, SQL, SAS, and / or VBA.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Substantial progress or towards ASA or FSA designation.
  • 2+ years of experience working for a healthcare consulting practice.
  • 2+ years of experience collaborating with cross functional partners and presenting analytical findings.
  • Experience with pricing, forecasting, reserving, or experience analysis for level-funded products.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal forms of communication.
  • Proven analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Willing to relocate to Minnesota.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C. Residents Only : The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
