Overview
The People Operations Specialist (HR Generalist) performs professional level human resources functions and carries out responsibilities in one or more functional areas, such as, staffing / recruitment, employee relations, compensation, training, leaves, benefits, and payroll.
The People Ops Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the Company is utilizing HR technology efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Assists in interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions
- Conduct or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
- Performs at an expert level user of HR technologies HRIS (UKG)
- Coordinates new hire orientation
- Manage Employee Engagement, creating and updating budget, oversee events and activities
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave;
- disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale;
and training and development
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and / or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline;
in the absence of a degree, directly-related job experience serving in an HR Generalist role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement
Experience & Skills
- At least three years of HR Generalist experience preferred
- SHRM certification a plus
- Through knowledge of employment laws and regulations, multi-state experience is beneficial
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required
- Overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E-verify
Travel
Travel for this position is less than 25%
