Requisition # Jul 09, Post Date
The Department of Physics at Creighton University invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Quantum Computing Research Group.
The goals of the group are to explore algorithmic, mathematical, and theoretical aspects of quantum computing, especially quantum algorithms for searching for information using the quantum analogs of random walks, called quantum walks.
The group employs various models of quantum walks, including coin-based discrete-time quantum walks, continuous-time quantum walks effected by the discrete Laplacian and adjacency matrix, and effectively nonlinear quantum walks that arise from many-body quantum systems.
The postdoctoral fellow will benefit from interaction with a diverse group of researchers as part of the Emergent QUAntum materials and TEchnologies (EQUATE) collaboration.
This interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration is focused on leveraging quantum mechanics to understand and build the next generation of quantum materials.
The EQUATE collaboration includes 20 research groups from across Nebraska.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research at Creighton University and also to assist in guiding student research projects.
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Prior experience with quantum computing and / or quantum algorithms is preferred but is not required.
Teaching opportunities exist for the interested candidate, but teaching is not a requirement. The candidate will have the opportunity to travel to national and / or international conferences to present this work.
This is a grant funded position
