Position Summary
UCPath is the University of California's shared services center in Riverside, CA. UCPath manages the payroll, benefits, and other human resources transactions for more than 200,000 UC employees working across ten UC campuses, five medical centers, three national labs and more.
The staff at UCPath work in a variety of areas including business operations, customer service, quality management, technology, training, human resources and communications.
The Senior Instructional Designer and Trainer serves as lead and subject matter expert in the design, development, delivery and maintenance of training for UCPath, with a special focus on technical training for PeopleSoft 9.
2 HCM and other integrated systems technology. Uses advanced technical expertise, professional training and development concepts and systemwide objectives to determine needs, develop and deliver content in areas of responsibility, and build processes, systems and metrics to ensure that the overall training program is effective.
Works on complex training issues, where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation and understanding of organization strategies and business objectives.
Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for performance improvement. The position reports to the Training Manager.
Key Responsibilities
50% Assesses, designs, develops and delivers curriculum. As a lead content developer and trainer, oversees development and delivery, with a special focus on technical training.
Applies knowledge of adult learning theory and exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and materials to ensure training and development goals and objectives are met.
Ensures implementation of effective blended delivery program to include instructor-led training, web-based training and on-the-job coaching delivery methods.
- 25% Applies advanced professional training and development skills to conduct needs assessments and resolve highly complex performance and training issues.
- Demonstrates understanding of impacted workflows, organization strategies and business objectives. Evaluates technical training effectiveness;
recommends and implements program improvements that are integrated with UCPath's goals and direction. Consults with subject matter experts, trainers and content developers, contractors and leadership.
25% Reviews and validates content with appropriate subject matter experts and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and managing iterations as required.
Works with functional and technical subject matter experts to translate knowledge and processes into course content.

Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated and successful training or content development experience for ERP systems. Demonstrated knowledge of training needs assessment, design, delivery, implementation, and evaluation methodologies.
Advanced knowledge and experience in instructional design, and experience developing training in technology, business processes, and soft skills.
- Must have successfully designed, developed, and implemented at least one ERP training program.
- Strong user of business software. Business knowledge and software should include, eLearning software preferably Articulate, SharePoint, User Productivity Kit (UPK) and Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Ability to create and maintain templates in PowerPoint, Word and Articulate or similar authoring software.
Prior experience with PeopleSoft 9.2 for at least one of the following modules : Core HR / Workforce Administration, Position Management, Absence Management, Benefits Administration, Compensation, Payroll.
Ability to stage and manipulate data for training simulations and exercises.
Advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain flexibility and quickly address changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent people skills, with ability to effectively interact, collaborate, and influence across all levels of an organization while providing excellent service.
Excellent organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail and thoroughness in work product. Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize, and generalize based on information obtained.
Proven skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.
Highly self-motivated and directed, with the ability to accomplish assigned projects without compromising the integrity of UCPath and / or University of California policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with JIRA or similar issue / defect tracking tools. Ability to monitor system changes and determine the impact to existing training courses or define the need for any new content.
- Experience working with a customer relationship management (CRM) tool, such as Salesforce.
- Experience in content development and training in a shared service or call center environment.
- Experience with learning management systems administration.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams on technical development and testing.
- Experience with staging and administrating training activities within PeopleSoft training environments.
Education
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Information Systems, Business Administration, HR or related area or equivalent in education / experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related area.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at UCPath in Riverside and remote in California.
