The Communications team leverages creativity, strategy, and skill to manage all aspects of both external and internal communications for RICK.
This position is very dynamic, with multiple opportunities for taking leads on projects and tasks, exposure to several aspects of communication and various areas of the industry, mentoring and learning opportunities, and the chance to be a part of an enthusiastic and collaborative team focused on success.
We’re seeking a motivated, innovative communicator ready to hit the ground running and dive into a variety of projects and initiatives.
Creativity, enthusiasm, and curiosity are at the forefront of this role, with tasks including social media, external news articles, website content, graphic design, event support, and beyond.
This position is primarily focused on external and digital communication but will also involve other communications initiatives and tasks.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a solutions-oriented, valued member of our Communications team, working to support needs across the company and enhance multiple aspects of RICK’s internal and external communications
- Manage, enhance, and design graphics for all of RICK’s social media channels
- Collect, curate, and tailor content for social media channels
- Transform complex or technical information into clear, concise, organized, and relatable content and / or graphics
- Write compelling, informative, and effective news articles and curate page content for our company website in alignment with company voice, tone, and branding
- Design basic to mid-level graphics, print materials, digital designs, event materials, etc. as needed, with attention to branding and effectiveness
- Provide communications-related support for company and community events, career fairs, social gatherings, industry conferences, etc.

- Provide support as needed for other external communications efforts, such as public relations, mass email communication, and others
- Gain a solid understanding of our brand, our divisions, and the industry we work in, and conduct vital research to inform and develop ideas to enhance our communications
- Receive mentorship and actively engage in opportunities for learning and career development
- Collaborate with members of the Communications team, HR team, division leaders, and others to advance a wide variety of communications initiatives
- Participate in the evolution and influence of our communications initiatives with curiosity and a drive to continuously seek enhancement
- Assist with and take a lead in other communications efforts as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, journalism, or related field
- Work, school, and / or volunteer experience in a comparable role / roles
- Strong passion for communications across multiple aspects and platforms
- Excellent written communication skills, including aptitude in writing, structure, grammar, interviewing, strategy, content creation, and editing
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Understanding of current social and digital landscapes, tools, and best practices with the initiative to learn more
- Experience with social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) use, posting, planning, and strategy, with the initiative to learn more, including strategy for building audiences
- Experience with graphic design and the ability to create thoughtful original designs, work from templates, and use graphic design programs effectively (e.
g., InDesign, Photoshop, Canva) for a variety of needs and projects
- Interest in and experience with company, community, outreach, and / or social event support and participation
- Understanding of principles, strategies, and approaches to effective external communication
- Experience with website content creation, writing for the web, and / or website strategy
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, a dedicated commitment to collaboration, and a creative approach to problem-solving
- Ability to see the big picture while also operating with attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in MS Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and graphic design software / platforms (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
- Familiarity with the AEC industry, or the aptitude to pick it up quickly
- Front-end web design / editing / updating experience using WordPress or similar software (preferred)
