We are in search of a Patient Account Representative to join our team in La Jolla, California. This role primarily involves managing patient accounts, processing payments, and resolving billing discrepancies in the healthcare industry.
This position offers a short-term contract employment opportunity, providing vital support in maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring timely collections.
Responsibilities :
- Accurately and promptly post patient payments into the NexGen system
- Regularly review patient accounts to ensure accurate application of payments and correct balances
- Proactively reach out to patients via phone, email, and mail to collect on past-due accounts
- Promptly resolve billing discrepancies and respond to patient inquiries regarding their balances and insurance claims
- Establish payment plans for patients when necessary and monitor compliance with agreed terms
- Collaborate closely with the billing and finance teams to reconcile patient accounts and ensure timely collections
- Maintain precise documentation of collection activities and patient communications in accordance with clinic policies and regulations
- Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Utilize skills in Allscripts, Cerner Technologies, Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), EHR SYSTEM, Epic Software, Appeals, Benefit Functions, Billing Functions, Claim Administration, and Clinical Trial Operations in the execution of responsibilities.
- Familiarity with Allscripts, Cerner Technologies, Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), EHR SYSTEM, and Epic Software.
- Proficiency in handling appeals, understanding benefit functions, and managing billing functions.
- Experience in claim administration and clinical trial operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and insurance providers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other necessary computer applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively resolve patient account issues.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to stay updated with changes in medical codes, compliance, and government regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; further education in medical administration or a similar field is a plus.
