Perform secretarial / clerical duties in an efficient and effective manner to ensure the daily operations of the science department.
In addition, the secretary will support campuses by maximizing the availability of resources to support content standards and a rigorous and engaging instructional science program.

Note : Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Perform general office routines such as typing forms, handling correspondence and meeting notices, maintaining files, processing mail and faxes, duplicating materials, inventory science materials received to the department from vendors, etc.
2. Complete extensive word processing assignments with various computer programs in a timely manner with minimal errors.
3. Make arrangements for the printing and distribution of department assessments and documents.
4. Assist with the preparation of department professional development sessions and other meetings.
5. Ensure preparation such as approval of contracts, submission of criminal background checks, travel arrangements, location, and supplies, for consultants providing training to department teachers and staff.
6. Attend and remain up-to-date with district business office guidelines and procedures to utilize when developing, preparing, and maintaining the department budget.
7. Prepare and submit purchase orders and requisitions when purchasing supplies, equipment, etc. for the science department.
8. Calculate and submit payroll for teachers that attend required work sessions or professional development sessions that offer a stipend.
9. Make travel preparations (transportation, meals, registration fee, etc.) for coordinators and teachers when attending out-of-town conference or student events.
10. Assist campus staff and coordinators with various requests such as copies of approved district aligned materials, preparing teacher materials for trainings and department events and meetings.
11. Serve as a liaison for the science department and maintain positive relationships with school and community partners.
12. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisors (primary evaluators).
