Although specific area of research emphasis is open, the ideal candidate will be someone whose research addresses a significant public health priority and complements one of our core areas of strength (addiction prevention / treatment, child clinical / pediatric psychology, clinical health, psychological trauma and resilience).
There is also a general focus on community-engaged research across most of our research labs.
Successful candidates will have earned a APA-accredited program and be license-eligible as a Health Service Provider in Tennessee.
Commitment to excellence in research, teaching core clinical courses, and supervision of graduate research are expected.
Additionally, we seek candidates who demonstrate a history of, or strong potential for, grant funding. Opportunities exist for supervision towards licensure and for research mentorship from senior clinical faculty.

The Psychology Department consists of more than 30 full-time faculty members, 125 graduate students, and 900 undergraduate majors.
Graduate degree programs include APA-accredited doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology (with Major Areas of study in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Clinical Health Psychology) and School Psychology;
a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology; a master’s degree program in General Psychology; and a , the Psychology Department provides competitive salaries and strong support for faculty research and professional development, and we have an excellent track record for obtaining external funding from NIH, NSF, IES, DoD, and other sources.
