Job Summary : In conjunction with the Conference Housing Manager, with a high degree of independence and autonomy on a day-to-day basis, manage and supervise guest service operations for the conference housing program;
develop, coordinate, & implement systems, procedures, staffing, to ensure optimum productivity and quality guest service.
Partner with Conference Housing Manager to oversee remote desk operations and collaborate in the management of student supervisors and student assistants.
Recruits, trains, and supervises student staff.In cooperation with Conference Housing Manager, UC Davis, Conference and Event Services (CES) identify specific target groups within the university community and non-campus groups to market / outreach potential clients.
Develop strategies to expand conference housing activities and assure that services and facilities are marketed in best light possible.
Provide year-round management, leadership, coordination and implementation of various in-house, on-campus and off-campus client events, tours, and special services.
Supervise and direct events to ensure a safe and successful event for the clients and patrons.Physical Demands : Sit in front of a computer terminal and type on keyboard for extended periods of time.
Walking tours of buildings and climbing stairs. Required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
Work flexible schedule to meet weekend conference group requirements including on-call and after-hours rotation; work occasional overtime and varied lunch hours.
Work an alternate work schedule as needed May through September. Vacation is restricted during peak workload periods.Work Environment : Valid California Driver's License required.

Experience working in a customer service driven business office environment, communicating effectively and professionally in person, via email and over telephone to assist a wide variety of internal / external clients and event participants.
Project management experience to oversee day-to-day summer operations : determine competing workload priorities, establish and effectively meet deadlines, goals and objectives in a fast-paced, high-volume, busy environment;
follow-through to successful completion.Experience supervising students or professional staff, acting in a lead capacity to direct work and expectations.
Supervisory skills to provide work assignments, recruit, train, evaluate, motivate and implement corrective action of student employees.
Ability to work as a team to stay informed, share perspectives, provide feedback, and collaborate regarding specific roles and responsibilities to promote new ideas for increased efficiencies.
Skills to perform program analysis and evaluation of technical and non-technical operations.Analytical, accounting and record-keeping, skills to document, retrieve, and reconcile data in a variety of configurations (spreadsheets, reports, software systems, and correspondence).
Experience composing, editing and proofreading a variety of correspondence, reports, policies and procedures, agreements, training documents, and performance evaluations.
Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to protect and maintain the confidentiality, privacy and security of student records.
Experience working effectively and sensitively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives to build mutual respect, provide equality of research and to secure information to resolve problems or concerns.
