Job Description :
The Weekend Fitter welder role involves correctly fitting and welding fabricated and forged components to assemble header components using Shielded Metal Arc Welding Gas Metal Arc Welding and / or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding processes as required.
Proficiency in blueprint reading for layout is essential. Responsibilities include positioning aligning and fitting components together tackwelding parts to secure them for welding and setting up welding equipment for various materials.
The job also involves hammering wedges and drift pins grinding rough edges surplus weld or scale using a portable grinder and positioning workpieces manually or with overhead or jib cranes.
The candidate will also straighten warped or bent parts using a straightening press and must be skilled with a cutting torch and / or plasma cutter.
Proficiency in using measuring devices such as tape measures squares and levels is required. The candidate must maintain production records of parts and jobs fabricated as required by the Department Manager.
Regular attendance punctuality the ability to work onsite and overtime and the ability to work cooperatively with others are essential.
The role requires dealing respectfully with the public customers vendors other employees managers and executive management performing multiple tasks concurrently working in a fastpaced environment and interchanging roles with others in the department.
