We are looking for a Catering Sales Manager to join our team! The Catering Sales Manager is a leader who is knowledgeable and passionate about the event and wedding industry and self-driven to perform in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Our Catering Sales Manager solicits, captures, plans and coordinates meetings, social and catering only functions, while maximizing the banquet space to meet and exceed catering revenue goals;
while primarily focusing on weddings and social events. We are looking for someone who is proactive, highly ambitious and detail-oriented, and of course, has a natural knack for building solid relationships and delivering excellent communication.
Qualifications Responsibilities may include but are not limited to : Strong focus on social and wedding market Excellent relationship-building and negotiating skills, exceptional follow-through, strong organizational and time-management skills are required Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat local and social catering sales business through proactive sales efforts such as prospecting, outside sales calls, networking, etc.
while maximizing banquet space to meet / exceed catering revenue goals Keep up with market conditions (i.e. competitor's strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand) and how to sell against them Works closely with property operations and food and beverage teams to better meet the needs of our clients throughout the sales and event planning process Assists client in the selection of food and beverage menu and audio-visual needs using upselling techniques to maximize revenue Create event floor plans with Social Tables platform to ensure banquet and client agree prior to set-up Serves as host to group upon arrival (flexible schedule including nights and weekends is required) and is available to assist with any client needs that may arise during their stay Inspects meeting and event room set-up to ensure compliance with client specifications Utilize Marriott’s CI / TY system to build opportunities and quotes for pricing, set activity traces for follow-up, generate contracts and proposals, create banquet event orders BEOs, group resumes, and event forecasts Participate in daily business review, weekly sales meeting, weekly BEO and resume meeting, training and other sales related meetings Exhibit a positive and involved team attitude towards all hotel departments and maintain open communication with co-workers for the best overall performance of the hotel Adheres to all work rules, SOP’s, and policies established by the company, including but not limited to those contained in the Employee handbook Must have own reliable transportation and possess a valid state driver's license to make sales calls when necessary This role is located on-property at Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key Sales office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5 : 30pm and the Catering Sales Manager schedule varies and is often Tuesday-Saturday Flexibility required for site visits outside of regular business hours, pre / post-con meetings, weddings, Chamber or other related events that may take place during nights / weekends Marriott CI / TY experience highly desired with a minimum of two years in the event sales industry.
Hotel sales experience preferred. Wedding or event coordination experience is required.
