POSITION TITLE : Special Program Coordinator, Adult Education Online Services (Part-Time)
DEPARTMENT : Adult Education
PRIMARY LOCATION : Fall River & Attleboro Campus
POSITION STATUS : This is a part-time, grant funded, non-unit, benefitted, 20 hours per week position from September 2024 - June 30, 2025.
SALARY : $32.64 per hour
STATEMENT OF DUTIES :
The Special Programs Coordinator - Adult Education Online Services will implement and manage the Adult Education Online program, supporting staff and students in preparing for and participating in the instructional program.
The Special Programs Coordinator - Adult Education Online Services will coordinate and facilitate technology use in the learning process and academic and career readiness curriculum.
He / she will design programming and provide support to students in developing digital literacy competencies, which will enable them to be better prepared for study in the program and beyond.
They will also facilitate / coach Adult Education staff on use of pedagogies, emerging technologies, and best practices in blended, asynchronous and synchronous instructional models.
The Special Programs Coordinator - Adult Education Online Services will promote the use of cloud-based technology for collaborative planning among staff and collaborative learning among students.
This will enable staff to utilize Bristol's technology tools, including but not limited to the college's Learning Management System, Canvas, which will allow them to build online components for classes so that students may access course materials for review, online study, extension activities and to catch up on missed classes.
The Special Programs Coordinator - Adult Education Online Services will also support Adult Education Associate Directors and Director with program planning, grant writing, reporting and budget and data management as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Implement and manage online Adult Basic Education / High School Equivalency program, including setting and creating schedules and maintaining class records in the student information system (LACES).
- Provide in-person and remote technology support and assistance to staff and students in day and evening programs, periodically collaborating with other Adult Education sites as needed.
- Meet regularly with staff to ensure continuous improvement and identify potential opportunities for growth.
- Facilitate Adult Education staff use of technology to design and deliver effective lessons / classes.
- Ensure that program curriculum is aligned with College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRSAE)
- Enforce ADA regulations in support of staff and adult learners.
- Make recommendations and oversee the application of software products and online resources throughout the program.
- Facilitate student programming on digital literacy topics including basic computer skills, email use, internet skills, Microsoft Office, information literacy, social media, and instructional software;
facilitate Northstar Digital Literacy credentialing.
- Maintain proficiency in the use of the program's student information management system.
- Use data to track program outcomes and trends and inform program planning.
- Attend and participate in staff / program meetings.
- Remain current on educational technology topics and tools through professional development activities.
- Work collaboratively with the program Education and Career Advisor to support student learning and retention as related to the education program.
- Collaborate with the Director of Adult Education and Associate Directors on program innovations and improvement initiatives.
- Support the Director in meeting the strategic goals for Adult Education and the college.
- Provide assistance with additional educational projects related to the program as necessary.
Requirements :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience and / or training involving multimedia use and / or support in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of online / blended learning models, instructional / technology design principles, Microsoft Windows platform, and networking technology.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting an individual's acquisition of digital literacy skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or worksites as required.
- The ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body with varying educational skill levels.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum of one year instructing / facilitating adults in use of software / digital tools / technologies in an education setting
