Director of Family / Outreach Ministries
Reports to : Lead Pastor

Status : hours a week
Job Summary : The Family Ministry Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of family ministry, focusing on children and their families.
The Director of Family / Outreach Ministries will develop and lead a holistic ministry that encourages family involvement, supports parents in their roles as spiritual leaders, and creates an inclusive environment where families of all shapes and sizes can thrive.
This role requires a deep passion for family ministry, a heart for outreach, and the ability to engage with families both within the church and in the surrounding community.
This role also includes outreach to the broader community, aiming to build relationships with families, provide support, and create opportunities for community engagement and service.
Note : this is a hour a week or 3 / 4 position.
Essential Functions :
- Build authentic relationships with children and families that allows for engagement both when they attend church and in the world they live.
- Foster international relationships within the congregation.
- Support parents / caregivers in their own discipleship journey and equip them as spiritual leaders for their children.
- In partnership and collaboration with the youth director and Family Ministry team, create and execute an aligned faith formation plan, birth through graduation, ensuring Family Ministries supports the plan and reinforces partnering with parents / caregivers.
Create and communicate a vision for Family Ministries that cares for and equips families that aligns with St. Andrew’s mission.
Utilize numerous avenues to effectively communicate to the church, families, and community ways to get connected.
- Organize and coordinate Sunday School teachers, including recruitment, training, and scheduling, while also overseeing the selection and implementation of curriculum to ensure age-appropriate and biblically sound teaching materials.
- Create a culture where volunteers love to serve through accurately assessing needs of the Family Ministries and gifts of volunteers to implement an ongoing and effective volunteer recruiting, orientation, placement, onboarding, training, nurturing and resourcing.
Build these volunteer teams to help assist in equipping churched and community families alike.
- Lead the planning and execution of an annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) program and other children's outreach initiatives, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience that fosters spiritual growth and community involvement.
- Create a dynamic Family Ministries for children and families that inspires them to invite their friends to join them building an authentic Christian community.
- Develop community relationships that allow St. Andrew’s to embody God’s love within our community. This could include but is not limited to : school partnerships, local nonprofits serving children and families, school resource staff, area business / needs within the neighborhood location of our church.
- Serve as a bridge leading the church in outreach and evangelism of children and young families in our community.
- Participate in worship regularly and lead child appropriate moments in the worship service.
- Communicate regularly with and equip parents and caregivers through classes, resources, forming small groups, and other programming providing discipleship for parents / grown ups to support spiritual growth and equip them in being the primary spiritual leader at home.
- Be a regular thought partner sharing ideas and brainstorming with staff and leadership teams on how to reach families in our local community.
- Collaborate with outreach and worship teams at St. Andrew’s to ensure outreach / worship events are family / child friendly and invitational.
- Hire, train, and supervise nursery attendants.
- Provide annual training of safe sanctuaries to all current staff and volunteers involved. Do background and reference checks of new volunteers and train them in safe sanctuaries.
Uphold and review the safe sanctuary policy annually and update as needed to meet the needs of the church.
- Stay up-to-date on trends and issues for children and young families as a way to help support and for the church to help meet the needs.
- Prepare and oversee the ministry budget. Maintain a standard of careful stewardship, accurate budgeting, and consistent use of finance approval and reporting systems.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements :
- Able to move freely in and out of different settings (churches, business, etc.)
- Able to speak in public forums (church, local community settings, outside events.)
