Job Summary
The SLCC Campus Recreation Team Member is works with other SLCC Campus Recreation employees to create a welcome and inviting place for the SLCC community to recreate.
They are accountable to enforce the Standard Operating Procedures outlined in the SLCC Campus Recreation manual. This person will be the first point of contact for SLCC Campus Recreation participants so they must have strong communication styles with good customer service at the fore front of all interactions.
This employee will contribute by staying updated on Recreation policy, including CPR certification. They will be open and willing to last minute subbing and be available to work at other campuses at short notice.
This employee reports to the Front Desk Coordinator and then the Recreation Manager and keeps both updated with any problems or incidents that arise during their shifts.
Other duties as assigned. Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Enforces Campus Recreation rules, safety standards, and sanitation requirements are followed.
- Clean and maintain all exercise equipment on a daily basis.
- Check in students, update memberships, check in / out equipment and other tasks using SLCC Campus Recreation software and apps
- Excellent communication skills, customer service and able to deal with the general public, faculty / staff & students.
- Must have a knowledge of membership sales and retention strategies.
- Good telephone manner and ability to record and process messages.
- Keeping track of equipment that is rented
- Aid patrons in daily operation of equipment and answers questions concerning operation of equipment.
- Set-up courts for sports activities (i.e., volleyball, badminton, etc.).
- Assist in the reservation of court space.
- Ensure that all patrons have an active recreation pass with knowledge on how to use recreation apps.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Eighteen years of age or older.
- Commitment to continuous personal development, attend training as required.
- Willing and able to complete CPR and First-Aid Training 6 weeks after being hired
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR / AED certified
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Currently enrolled as a SLCC student (preferred).
- One to two years fitness or recreation background (preferred).
- CPR and First-Aid Certified (preferred).
- Strong Microsoft skills including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Communication skills (oral and written).
- Customer service oriented.
- Problem solving.
- Computer savvy
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Complete SLCC Campus Recreation mandatory staff trainings.
- Complete first-aid and CPR training within 6 weeks of hiring.
- Work flexible schedule (early mornings, nights, weekends).
- Report to work on time, in proper SLCC Campus Recreation standard attire.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
