Communitas is searching for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee and lead the strategic direction of the agency. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer leads the organization, shaping strategy and collaboratively working to achieve organizational goals while playing a pivotal role in ensuring optimal service delivery to the people we support.

The ideal hiring timeframe for this position will be summer 2024, with flexibility for the right candidate. This position is located in Massachusetts, and the candidate would be expected to be on-site full-time.

POSITION OVERVIEW :

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for overseeing the overall operation and administration of the Agency’s programs and business activities.

The CEO is responsible for implementing the strategic goals and objectives of the organization including fundraising, marketing, and community outreach.

The CEO will provide direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead the Agency in a manner that supports and guides the mission and core values.
  • Direct the organization to achieve stated strategic / business goals and objectives while ensuring the fiscal and program integrity of its operations as evidenced by maintaining a balanced budget and current licensing and accreditation status in good standing.
  • Supervise all senior staff including the Director of Residential Services, Director of Family Services, Director of Day Services, Director of Human Resources, maintenance and quality assurance.
  • Assure the organization and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders.

Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.

  • Serve as the Agency’s authorized agent and spokesperson in all public matters, including contract negotiations with local, state, and federal entities and act as primary liaison with funding sources to ensure that positive working relationships remain intact.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the Agency that is dedicated to the delivery of high-quality services and supports.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Advanced degree, ideally an MBA or related field such as human services, education, or nonprofit management required.
  • Minimum of at least five years of leadership and organizational experience in a non-profit organization. At least five years of senior management experience within the nonprofit sector and hands-on experience with government contracts and knowledge of developmental disabilities practices preferred.

Experience with MassHealth, DDS, and other funding agencies.

  • Ability to effectively partner with and support the Board in its governance responsibilities, particularly in its fund development and organizational capacity responsibilities, providing the Board unique ideas and tools to carry out its responsibility.
  • History of success in leading staff to develop and implement a tactical plan that provides programming and services that align with the organization’s strategic plan and vision.
  • Demonstrated financial analysis and management skills.
  • Proven track record in fundraising and fund development for nonprofit organizations.
  • A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation are required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check including references, CORI, and fingerprinting.
