The Charge Review Specialist, Physician Billing is responsible for all revenue capture for physician practices including, but not limited to, charge review and claim edit practice work queues to ensure all billing and insurance information is posted correctly and in a timely manner to maximize reimbursement as a clean paid claim.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs queries to providers regarding documentation, diagnosis coding, and procedural coding
Maintains a high level of competence related to the policies of various insurance companies
Maintains a high level of competence with Epic related billing functions
Takes active role in team approach to functions within department
Release clean charges within 48 hours from all charge review and claim edit work queues
Perform daily charge reconciliation for those charges posted by specialist for reconciliation
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS :
Sitting for up to 8 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. Consistent use of hands and fingers for typing, telephone, data entry, etc.
Occasional twisting and turning. Uses upper extremities to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Stoops, bends and reaches above shoulder level to retrieve files.
Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision. Visual monotony when reading reports and viewing computer screen.
EDUCATION :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :
1 year charge entry experience preferred. Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD10, and medical terminology. Epic experience preferred.
