- Enforce, monitor, and document construction safety, environmental safety, and security requirements for the MATOC contractors;
- Coordinate with WMATA Department of Safety and Environmental Management (SAFE) as necessary and provide reports to WMATAs safety department as needed;
- Work closely with WMATA field staff and contractors to ensure the understanding of their responsibilities with respect to safety and conduct regular daily safety surveys;
- Attend project related meetings including, but not limited to, project meetings occurring in the field or other required location;
- Review and comment on project-related submittals including, but not limited to : Job Hazard Analysis, Contractor Safety Manual, Safety Data Sheets, and Crane Lift Plans;
- Administer, monitor, and coordinate the MATOC construction safety aspects to ensure compliance with the Authoritys Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP);
- Direct implementation, administration, and review of the effectiveness of the industrial, construction, and environmental safety aspects of the Authoritys PTASP, in association with the MATOC program;
- Consult with and advise the Project Manager on developing safety goals and objectives in accordance with the requirements of the PTASP;
- Implement and evaluates safety standards and procedures necessary to eliminate, minimize, or control the degree of risk involving people-to-equipment interface in a variety of occupational and related subject areas;
- Determine the adequacy of maintenance safety practices and procedures in assuring the desired level of safety and recommend any necessary policy and procedure changes to SAFE; and
- Support SAFEs investigations of MATOC construction accidents / incidents to identify root causes, determine facts, recommend appropriate corrective actions, and develop effective preventive measures.
Skills and Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelors degree in engineering or in a related field;
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction safety or transit safety; and
- Successful completion of the OSHA 30-hour Construction Course (in-person)
