PRIMARY PURPOSE / GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, the Recruiting Coordinator is responsible for the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, applicant tracking, candidate sourcing and outreach, and onboarding processes.

Within the Office of Human Resources, the Recruiting Coordinator brings valuable knowledge and expertise in full cycle recruiting and serves as a business partner for all divisions within the College to manage recruiting and assist in reporting data and metrics.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Manages the full cycle recruiting process, including phone screening, scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, making offers, coordinating background checks, initiating onboarding, and relationship management.
  • Identify, source, and attract top talent utilizing creative sourcing techniques for both active and passive candidates.
  • Manages the applicant tracking system (Workday), in coordination with the Associate Director of HR, Workday Analyst, and Assistant Director, and suggests improvements or better processes to the software.
  • Coordinates with the Dean of Faculty’s office regarding the use of faculty recruiting software (Interfolio).
  • Consults with legal counsel regarding legal matters, including job classifications, exemption status, candidate applications, background checks, etc.
  • In coordination with hiring managers, prepares all job descriptions and postings College-wide.
  • Serves as a strategic business partner with colleagues and hiring managers to ensure positions are filled in a timely manner and with the best candidate.
  • Research recruiting trends for attracting diverse talent and leverage data to provide data analytics that measure the effectiveness and ROI of associated efforts, including cost per hire, time to fill, diverse candidate pools, etc.

Independently verifies data if necessary.

  • In partnership with Marketing and Communications, establishes recruiting materials to attract talent, including use of social media.
  • Utilizes advanced technology resources to support recruiting, e.g. LinkedIn Recruiting, Predictive Index.
  • Extends offers of employment for candidates on behalf of the College.
  • Partners with the Business Affairs office regarding budgets for positions.
  • Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments when working with candidates regarding the recruiting process.
  • Assists hiring managers throughout recruiting process including preparing interview questions, formation of committees, and recruiting best practices.
  • Update and maintain HR recruiting webpage.
  • Works with HR and consortium colleagues to provide up-to-date benefits and compensation information to candidates.
  • Serves as liaison and information resource for faculty and staff, consults with General Counsel and others on problems, and determines final resolution.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with local, regional, and national recruiting networks / associations. Attends job fairs to promote career opportunities at Scripps College.
  • Serves as a back-up in the absence of Assistant Director. Will assist with special projects and initiatives.
  • Active and regular communication with HR team members to relay information affecting other operations, including employee relations, training & development, compensation, etc.
  • Supports the values of the College.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS :

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job.

Previous experience in Human Resource management and / or experience working in staffing or recruiting. Previous experience in higher education is preferred.

Spanish-speaking candidate is preferred.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES :

Human Resources Certification (e.g. PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS :

This is a regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.

The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.

Hourly rate range : $26.00-$31.00. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
