Job Summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a dynamic Senior Counsel to join the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). This position will play an important role in The Aerospace Corporation’s wide range of government accounting, contracts, and transactional work, focusing especially with our Chief Financial Officer.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, hands-on, creative, continuous-learning attorney, who thinks space is cool, and is motivated to join a tight-knit, collegial legal team.

The Aerospace Corporation is an intellectually challenging environment, and the successful candidate will work with some of the brightest people in the aerospace industry supporting Company initiatives in the space and national security sectors.

Work Model

This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required at one of our main campus locations : El Segundo CA, Chantilly VA, Crystal City DC, or Colorado Springs CO.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Work on a broad portfolio of federal government contract, fiscal, and accounting-related matters, primarily focusing on supporting to our Chief Financial Officer Division.
  • Provides legal advice and counsel to the Contracts Directorate, Supply Chain, and other directorates relating to negotiation of terms and conditions, new business opportunities, and in matters pertaining to commercial, government, and international transactions;

approve contract documents for managerial signature.

  • Prepares and reviews various corporate agreements, contracts, leases, and other legal documents; legal memoranda, and other related documents.
  • Researches and analyzes case and statutory law on relevant issues; identifies legal issues that may impact company activities;

provides counsel on specific inquiries relating to new business, corporate activities, government regulations, policies, and the permissible activities of nonprofit organizations and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs).

  • Participates in the definition and development of corporate policies, practices, and procedures, and provides continuing counsel and guidance on legal implications.
  • Collaborates with internal and external customers in both Virginia and California.

Minimum RequirementsWhat You Need to be Successful

  • 10 plus years of federal government fiscal, acquisition, contracts, and transactional experience, with preference given to candidates with experience advising a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or Chief Information Officer (CIO) who understands cost plus accounting, data privacy, DoD, NASA, the national security sector, and other civilian agencies in the space industrial base.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in good standing of at least one U.S. Bar.
  • Be intellectually curious, a continual learner, kind and collaborative teammate, service-oriented, both to our internal business partners, and to the nation.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance, which is issued by the US government.

U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these :

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience advising a Chief Financial Officer or Chief Information Officer, DoD, NASA, the national security sector, and other civilian agencies in the space industrial base.
  • Experience with or knowledge of federal cost-plus accounting standards, acquisition planning, contracting, fiscal law, legislative process, PPBE cycle, emerging technologies, federal ethics, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporate and tax matters, FFRDCs, space law, and DoD / IC missions and structures is a plus.
  • Candidates with an active or prior clearance.

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
