JOB TITLE : Director of Development

REPORTS TO : CEO

POSITION : Full-time exempt

LOCATION : Metro-Atlanta

OVERVIEW

The Promise686 vision is to fulfill the promise that God sets the lonely into families (Psalm 68 : 6). Promise mobilizes church communities to meet three goals : (1) Prevent children from coming into the foster care system.

2) Intervene when children enter the system. (3) Connect children and families when children are in need of a permanent home.

The Promise model hinges on developing strong Family Advocacy Ministries (FAMs) in local churches to accomplish this work.

The Promise staff works diligently to guide these FAMs to success and to give them the best resources available to maximize impact.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Development will contribute to sustainable development efforts by proactively identifying prospective donors, cultivating and converting new donors, and performing ongoing stewardship of donors.

In total, the Promise development team is responsible for securing $5 million or more in private revenue from individuals, corporations, and foundations during the next fiscal year.

Promise’s scaled impact plan projects a growth in program size that would increase this private revenue goal to $6 million by 2026 and allow us to mobilize more churches to care for vulnerable children.

Donor Acquisition

  • Using research, analysis, and referrals, identify new prospective donors for Promise.
  • Initiate new relationships and invite individuals to give in support of the Promise mission.

Donor Cultivation and Retention

  • Manage an ongoing portfolio of donors through intentional stewardship.
  • Provide excellent customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our donors.
  • Continue to execute and enhance the process for donor touchpoints, ensuring donors feel appreciated and connected to the mission on an ongoing basis.
  • Grow current donors’ annual giving and impact for the organization.
  • Prepare written donor proposals for major gift solicitations and maintain correspondence with donors (including foundations) and appropriate financial personnel.

Oversee Development Office

  • Set and maintain annual development strategy in line with the operating budget.
  • Track and convey major internal and external trends in giving, projecting future revenue.
  • Equip and hold accountable a growing development team.
  • Provide accountability to ensure the Promise686 staff involved in fundraising enter and manage prospect information and interactions in company CRM.
  • Help cultivate a culture of exceptional service and care within the Promise development office.

Fundraising Events and Campaigns

  • Assist with annual appeal and multi-year campaign efforts.
  • Manage semi-annual fundraising events (Spring and Fall).
  • Perform special projects and other duties related to development as assigned.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities that help establish Promise as the standard for creative, ahead-of-the-curve donor development.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Committed to following Jesus and mobilizing others to serve His Kingdom.
  • Dedicated to Promise’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Passionate about empowering local churches to care for children and families in crisis.
  • Clear sense of calling to this role in this organization.
  • Aggressive learner who asks great questions.
  • Demonstrated record of operational and fundraising effectiveness achieved through collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google for Nonprofit Apps, and ideally Salesforce.
  • Able to communicate across diverse audiences with clarity and humility.
  • Strong bridge builder and contributor in team environments.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to give and receive feedback and direction.
  • Willingness to conduct occasional overnight business travel.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience leading others in an organizational setting.

The above description is not intended to be comprehensive, but rather a focused list of priorities. This role, like the non-profit ministry, is relentless.

Success provides the opportunity to not only build a career but also bring much-needed support and care to local children and families in crisis.

Promise is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located at 5300 Triangle Parkway, Suite 202, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092.

Promise associates are at-will employees.
