Department : Housing and Residence Life - 40010 Brief Summary of Work for this position : Housing and residence life has a maintenance / renovation program that includes preventative maintenance, a timely and efficient repair program, a procedure for renovating and updating facilities, and a systematic replacement program for equipment and furnishings.
Duties include : Analyze work demands to adequately maintain our facilities and provide optimum customer service and satisfaction.
Perform maintenance for all housing and residence life buildings. Recommend work order request to the physical plant for major items of repair in the field of plumbing, electrical, HVAC , and lock issues.
Work with the Assistant Director of Facility Operations to ensure maintenance supplies are stocked to meet the daily needs / requirements.
Report daily to supervisor on the condition of facilities and work being done in these facilities; on the progress of special projects and the number of daily maintenance requests that are being completed.
May work in Housing and Residence Life Warehouse as needed. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements : Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience : Knowledge of methods used in building maintenance, repair, and renovation.
Ability to follow plans and schedules to meet deadlines and to reach desired results. Ability to collaborate with residence life staff, physical plant staff, housekeeping staff, and outside contractors on related issues and projects.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to use of computer / iPad Strong customer service skills. Required Certifications or Licensure : N / A Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit : The Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington houses approximately 5100 students in a combination of residence halls, suites, and apartments.
