JARBO is seeking a highly experienced Civil Department Manager to lead and oversee a diverse range of infrastructure projects, including transportation, bridges, traffic engineering, and water / wastewater systems.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project leadership, business development, and team management. Responsibilities of Civil Department Manager - Infrastructure :
Project Leadership :
- Oversee engineering analysis, design, and plan production for a wide range of infrastructure projects, including transportation, bridges, traffic engineering, and water / wastewater systems.
- Determine project requirements, define scopes of work, and establish design and construction budgets.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards.
- Manage team performance and utilization by effectively assigning projects and monitoring progress.
Business Development :
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to secure work for the team.
- Establish and maintain strong client relationships.
- Develop and review project proposals to align with client schedules and budgets.
- Contribute to proposal development by writing technical content, coordinating with team members, and collaborating with external subconsultants.
Team Management and Development :
- Lead teams of engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Foster staff growth through training and mentorship programs.
- Coordinate labor and equipment resources according to workload demands.
- Plan hiring needs to support departmental growth and project requirements.
- Ensure the department meets or exceeds financial goals through effective annual planning.
Communication and Coordination :
- Manage multiple objectives and stakeholders, including clients, contractors, third parties, and internal team members.
- Maintain effective communication to meet critical deadlines.
- Collaborate with teammates to seek input and share knowledge.
Qualifications of Civil Department Manager - Infrastructure :
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in states of KS / MO - preferred both.
- Proven experience in leading teams of engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Strong aptitude for business development and client relationship management.
- Excellent project management skills, including setting scopes and budgets.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines through effective time management and communication.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
