Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an IMMIGRATION ADVISOR H-1B to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for international employees by providing information and support on H-1B immigration status issues.
To work with department administrators and beneficiaries to collect documents and assemble petitions for H-1B work authorization from US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
To liaise with department administrators and other UAB administrative partners to obtain checks and signatures. To draft travel and visa appointment support letters for H-1B beneficiaries.
To advise international employees on matters of immigration compliance and university policy.
Responsibilities :
- Liaises with campus partners, administrators and others to collect accurate information for H-1B petition filings and premium processing requests.
- Drafts support letters and assembles supporting documentation for H-1B initial and extension petition.
- Files Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) via the Department of Labor's iCert web portal.
- Navigates and integrates accurate information from and into multiple databases, file storage systems and software programs.
- Helps compile data and reports, and presents information at UAB campus partner meetings, and / or state and regional international educator conferences as needed.
- Conducts daily correspondence with international employees and UAB partners to answer questions regarding extension needs, travel issues, arrival at UAB and orientation.
- Assists with international employee orientation, workshops and other events. Drafts and revises flyers, forms, e-newsletter content and web content.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Hourly Rate : $20.80 - $23.00)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in International Studies, Pre-Law, Business or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
