We are seeking a talented, creative Principal Scientist to join our Auditory research team. You will be involved in basic research studies designed to understand the biology behind various forms of deafness and hearing impairment.
As a Principal Scientist, a typical day may include :
- Developing and characterizing novel animal models to better understand mechanisms of hearing loss and to test novel therapeutics
- Designing and performing in vivo functional assays, such as ABR, DPOAE, endocochlear potentials and / or other novel technologies to better understand mechanisms of hearing loss
- Conducting histological analyses of the inner ear using a variety of methods to examine cell morphology and subcellular protein localization
- Designing rigorous and appropriate experiments to address core questions, and carefully analyze and evaluate data
- Presenting data both internally and externally, and participate in discussions in our collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Contributing to writing of protocols and articles for publication
This role may be for you if you :
- Can work well both independently and in a team
- Have strong communication and presentation skills

We need someone with a strong background in electrophysiology and auditory sciences. Must have experience working with animal models of hearing loss.
Familiarity with stereotaxic delivery to the inner ear is preferred. Experience with functional measures of hearing loss is required.
Experience with primary culture of auditory, vestibular, or neural cells, molecular genetics, biochemistry, cell culture, protein-protein interaction assays and / or in vitro assay development is strongly preferred.
