Under general direction from the Director of Training and Development, the is responsible for a full range of professional development, employee education, and employee performance focused initiatives.
This position manages all aspects of employee education programs including the design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of training and educational programs for management and employee development.
The Training and Development Specialist is in charge of existing curricula, and under the direction of the Director of Training and Development, develops and implements new educational programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts research using a variety of methods including research, job analysis, audience analysis, surveys and focus groups, among others
- Conducts needs assessments and drives the design and development of instructional plans from front end analysis to implementation.
- Establishes rapport and credibility by engaging stakeholders (managers and employees) in a wide variety of learning needs and professional development issues.
- Selects appropriate instructional methods such as individual training, group facilitation, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play and computer-based training to ensure desired business outcomes are met.
- Manages multiple projects including but not limited to leadership development, performance excellence, employee training and development, with varying timelines and deliverables.
- Organizes and develops training materials, learning content and curricula, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
- Coordinates established training courses with technical and professional programs offered both inside and outside of Leon Medical Centers.
- Serves as curriculum owner and manager for the assigned organizational area; coordinates maintenance of educational resources with the appropriate trainers or members of the business unit.

Proven experience with Windows operating systems, and a variety of adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies and applications.
The Training and Development Specialist must possess familiarity and diverse experience with a variety of applications including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applications.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Two to four (2-4) years of training or management experience, or equivalent healthcare experience is preferred.
EDUCATION
Minimum of associate's degree required.
Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, Training or Human Resources is strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent in English and Spanish is required.
