Job Title : Special Education Teacher
Location : Kimberly, Idaho
Job Summary : We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Special Education Teacher to join our school community in Kimberly, Idaho.
The ideal candidate will provide personalized instruction and support to students with special needs, promoting their academic, social, and emotional development.
This role requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure a well-rounded educational experience for all students.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that address the unique needs of each student.
- Adapt instructional methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Evaluate and assess students academic performance and behavioral development using various tools and techniques.
- Maintain detailed records of students progress and regularly update their IEPs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide inclusive education opportunities and support co-teaching models.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and any concerns.
- Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals and teaching assistants in the classroom.
- Stay current with the latest research, strategies, and best practices in special education through continuous professional development.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Idaho teaching certificate with an endorsement in Special Education (K-12).
- Successful completion of the required Praxis II exam(s) in Special Education.
- Thorough knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
- Experience in creating and implementing IEPs.
Licensure and Certification Requirements :
- Idaho Standard Instructional Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
- Passing score on the required Praxis II exam(s).
- Background check and fingerprint clearance as required by the Idaho State Department of Education.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience working with a variety of disabilities.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and its application in the classroom.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
- Ability to perform physical interventions and handle the physical demands of student needs.
Work Environment :
- The position is based in a school setting with moderate noise levels.
- Regular interaction with students, parents, teachers, and administrative staff.
