General Description
This is a graduate assistant position responsible for assisting staff with administrative duties, including gathering, organizing, and analyzing information related to the operations and activities of Counseling Services.
This position communicates with a diverse group of students, ensures confidentiality, and maintains high professional and ethical standards.
Reports to the Director and professional staff in the department. Job Duties 1. Provides office and programming assistance to department by performing administrative duties and responsibilities, to include scheduling student-clients.
2. Provides variety of direct services to student-clients, including but not limited to assisting with intakes.3. Assists in promoting departmental services by providing faculty, staff, students, and / or the general public with applicable materials and information, including but not limited to managing departmental social media accounts.
4. Develops and provides counseling-related presentations and events.5. Remains knowledgeable of related on- and off-campus departments, programs, activities, and resources.
6. Maintains and updates confidential records.7. Documents work activities in electronic recordkeeping system.8. Assists in responding to inquiries and providing ongoing support through email, phone, and personal interaction.
9. Works evenings, nights and weekends as assigned.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications The minimum education required for admittance as a graduate student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
The recommendation of a faculty member may be required.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility A student must have clear or provisional admission to the graduate school and the academic unit, be in good academic standing, and be enrolled in six or more credit hours of graduate courses to be eligible for a graduate assistantship during the fall or spring semesters.
To be eligible for a graduate assistantship during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours of graduate courses.
