We are seeking a PERS Payroll Specialist to join our team in Portland, Oregon. for a contract position. This role involves working closely with a large community college and focuses on reconciling a backlog of Permanent Employee Retirement Savings(PERS) accounts, researching issues and document processes and procedures moving forward.
This position is largely remote but requires a candidate that lives in Oregon and is experienced in Oregon PERS.
Responsibilities :
- Assisting in the reconciliation of PERS records in the payroll system.
- Researching and rectifying payroll-related issues.
- Developing and maintaining a document outlining the process and procedures for the team.
- Utilizing 'Workday Payroll' system for processing and managing payroll activities.
- Carrying out account reconciliation tasks effectively.
- Collaborating with the team to optimize payroll procedures and ensure accuracy.
- Addressing payroll-related queries and providing solutions.
- Conducting regular audits to ensure data accuracy.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Regularly updating and maintaining accurate payroll records.
- Experience working with Oregon PERS
- Proficiency in Workday Payroll software is mandatory for this role.
- Strong experience in account reconciliation is required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing.
- Familiarity with payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
